hi im a newbie. i tried to free the lcks on my hubs today on vitara jlx. the left hand one just needed a bit of prising with clamp. i noticed there was a spring attatched to the camp in the clamped position. over to the right hand hub.. after pulling off the cap i noticed that the cap spring was loose as it actually pushed the cap off..if you know what i mean. i went round to check the on spring on LH it was kind of locked into the cap but dont know how. however the RH spring was already sprung. is there a trick to re seating it nto the coiled position or is there something missing that holds the spring in coiled position? im presuming that this is the only problem. BUT. i aqlsi noticed there was a hloe directly in the centre of the hub but a didnt noticed a hole in the LH hub. what could this be? im stuffed but presume there is something missing.

the dog bit on the end of the hub that slides in and locks it has a groove on the inside, this has a wire loop that sits in there and locks it to the steel retainer thingo that slides in and out of the turning part of the hub and holds the big coil spring in place

that loop i hard to tell its there unless you know and look, they often pop off if something gets stuck and is forced

thanks royce. do you mean the spring on the cap is held in with something that might have broken off. as the coli in hub seems to be ok sitting in there.
