hi all i have a swb hardtop as most would know.It has 2" omes,2" shackles and 2" bodylift on 31s.i am running vs commy wagon rears up front with 2" bumpstop extension and 2wd hilux shocks on the rear with 40mm extension.

now that i have bought it back am just changing a few things.Now i was planning on doing away with the bumpstop extensions and making new shock mounts to suit and allow me to have original uptravel again.

Do any of you have similar or have you left them with little up for a reason?i am happy with it as is,even tho it falls over Anyhelp would be great.

And this for the rear (although my chassis is a 1L ute NT chassis, which has different upper rear shock mounts than yours standard, but you get the idea):

ah tru,u got it driving yet man??How much up travel do you have on the front?

I only limit uptravel to reduce the amount of cutting required for tyre clearance, and to lower the upper shock mount (also to reduce the amount of cutting required - through the floor, especially in the rear)

If you stick to 31's I can't see any reason to need the bumpstop extensions.

Of course, you could leave the extensions in and take out the BL - lower centre of gravity and the stability of the car on the bumpstops more often when it's articulating.

removing a body lift of 50mm won't bring your CofG down 50mm, might be lucky to be 10mm.

i dont mind making new mounts up.In saying that if it wont gain me a heap ill just leave them but i figured 2" more up front and 40mm rear has to help.Also understand the hole being on bumps a good thing.bodylift can stay its not hurting too much,will ditch the shackles before that ever happens

I dont think id go bigger than 31s unless i ever went trying bigger diffs then itd all have to be redone again.So should i change em ?

thanks joe,yeah its only 50mm.i dont mind it being there or the height of the vehicle just trying to think of ways to make it work slightly better

Sounds like you don't really need to do anything then appsie.

I'm aware that dropping the BL won't lower the COG all that much, but if it's not required there's no need to run one, and there's no need to run one with 31's and bumpstop spacers, so i'd be dropping one or the other (and if you dropped the bumpstop spacers, you could also drop the extended shackles as you wouldn't need the lift.

Personally, i'd say you only ever need to lift a car as high as necessary to clear the tyres. Any higher than that is lost stability. Just my 2C. We have a WT Hardtop in the club running 35's with no lift at all. It's quite stable indeed, but not everyone is willing to cut as far as that car has been cut.

for now my plan is(today anyway) loose the spacers and make new shock mounts to gain a little more travel in the lil zuk.Will most likely lose the shackles to for onroad reasons.

Have you got anypics of the hardtop you are talking about?would be sweet thanks
