I'm pretty much pushing my foot right to the firewall everytime I use the clutch - i'd say grab point is about 1/4 of the way off the firewall, considering the whole swing of the pedal. Was watching Wheeler Dealers on Foxtel last night and they sorted this exact problem by changing the slave cylinder - a part I never knew existed.

Looked like a quick and easy fix - just gotta make sure to purge all air when done. Cost approx $30 to fix on the BMW in the show too, so surely a zook part can't be too much more... clutch play is the last mech issue bugging me, fix it and my car will be running like a little champ - now just the bodywork to sort.


Anyway, after a quick look I can't find an individual part for my 1990 Sierra online... any leads? Don't need a whole clutch kit, clutch itself is fine, just the slave cylinder and any gaskets involved with replacement.

2nd hand = no good, reco or OEM part only.

i am sure the sierra is a cable operated clutch, you will need to either adjust the cable or replace the clutch.

Sweet, if it's just a cable adjustment i'll be stoked.

Had to replace my accelerator cable not too far back - is the clutch cable as easy to replace? Might be worth it seeing I got 220K on the clock... get it outta the way I won't have to do it again for a long while.

Would have a go at lubricating the old one and adjusting it before rushing off to replace it though.

On the side of the gearbox che.......try adjusting your clutch there buddy

the cable comes out the firewall and goes down to the gearbox

theres a funny nut thing on the gearbox housing that you adjust by turning

easy to do..............the boys can explain better.....good luck
