ok what it is would a 5000lbs winch pull a zook easy or would i be better bumping it up and getting sometihng bigger thanks

I have a 6000lb Warn winch on my Sierra. I reckon it would pull the front bar of the car before the winch stalled.

If the winch is functional and you have a need for it, then it sounds like a good buy. You can buy parts for Warn winches too, so that's a plus.

sadly no it won't....a 6000 is rubbish.......but better than nothing.


if its a 'permanent magnet' motor steer clear of it. if its a 'series wound' than it might be a good thing.

have a look @ the tigerz11 winches they are supposed to be prety good. i want 1 but cant afford it

buy a second hand warn 8000 or 9000. they are everywhere and cheap.

Why is that Joe? Do the M6000s have inferior gearing, shorter service life or something else wrong with them?

It's still a series wound winch, and while it's smaller, it recovers the Sierra comparably to what the M8000 in my wife's fourby can self recover.

6000lbs have superior gearing, but if you're into bogging the car really hard you may need to use a snatch block.

The 6000lb Warn winch has a very high low load line speed, so they are excellent at "assist winching" - where you can nearly drive but can't quite get enough traction. This seems to be a lot of the winching I've seen.

I guess it depends on what you expect from a winch and what kind of driving you do. Personally, I'd rather a faster winch and use a snatch block occasionally to a really, really slow winch with a higher load rating.

I know nothing of the 5000lb Warn - my experience is with 6K's and I'd run one without an issue.
