I have a SCA Calibra Digital oild pressure gauge with supplied sensor. (all on a G16A Vit

Originally it appears to work fine - measuring what I thought was correct readings etc..

NOW! - when the car is cold, it reads approx 100PSI, When warm I'm tooling around in the 50PSI region.

When the car is off! and cold it reads 20 ish PSI

My Question here is - Do you think there is smething wrong with the Sensor / Gauge or has my Brand New rebuilt engine got high oil pressure indicating a problem?

My thought is the motor is not pressure sealed so how can it hold pressure over night ???

Maybe I take it back to SCA and set a new one - or should I just get a quality item to check it..?

Put a real pressure gauge on it to see what it really doing, take back the stuipdshit gauge & ask for you money back.

Cause you to busy looking at all the girl's , not your dash..
Or it could be the way you drive.

If the light come's on when you turn the ing on, it's working, when it turn's off on start, you have oil pressure.
Simple but highly effective.

had a toyota starlet come into work today with an oil leak.... light came on with ignition and went out after starting.

found and fixed the oil leak (filter was leaking) so desided to do oil and filter... took out sump plug and nothing came out.. not even a drop..

its a rent a car..... avery thrashed rent a car... so they want cheap as.. he was informed of any possible damage.. but totally surprised me as he ahd driven it probably 10klm to us like that... in stop start traffic.

If your gauge shows 20psi with the engine off IT IS ROOTED or the sender at least... Replace them both with good quality items... Also fit a T piece so you can run the original sender to activate the idiot light.

I'd agree with this advice - and add a few words more ...

Try not to hang too large a stack of fittings off of the block - the brass fatigues & breaks because of vibration. You'd be better off mounting the T to the frame somewhere and running a few inches of copper line to the oil pressure port - don't forget to loop the line a couple of times to allow for engine movement.

Also - consider using an analogue gauge - sure digital gauges are flashy and high tech, but you have to focus on them & read the numbers to know what it says, with an analogue gauge, you can see the angle of the needle at a glance, and that tells you you're safe, or you need to take a closer look.

thats what happened when the dick driving a Silvia smashed up my rear at night when i stopped at a Zebra crossing to let people cross...

Their good only in the right hands...

I also worked for SCA - Goldcross Cycles and the company as a whole is hopeless!!!
