Ok, so my set up is...
2"King Springs
Boge Shocks
Nt Chassis with wide track difs*
2" bump stop extensions
*this is the reason mine flex so well, my springs are closer together so there is a larger force pushing my tyre down while flexing.

hey nice ride
Could you or anybody with flex like that measure the lenght of the springs (along the curve from the middle of the bolt holes)
i know its a pain but it would help out lots.
thanks aleks

Have a look at Zuki's pic in the June Photos thread, and notice the shackle angles on the front springs. How much longer do you suggest he makes his bumpstops to improve the flex of his suspension? (PS not having a go at Zuki; that's an awesome shot!)

i've just got cheap $550 dollar ebay springs, 2 inch lifted, 2 inch lifted hilux rancho shocks, and spoa, and i reckon i've got more than enough flex.

Zuki's car actually flexes fine just the front end is unloaded in the uphill shot. And yair ... can't see bumpstop extensions doin much there.

I think the reason why on mine is that my shocks are out of travel, they are fully extended in that shot.

My shocks are nowhere near long enough that is why my shackles are like that. The shock is holding them in that position.

If we're talking fulcrum points and how they influence flex, Narrow Tracks have more apparent flex than Wide Tracks (and an LJ50 Vs LJ80) because both have the leaf spring mounted closer to the centreline of the vehicle. If the spring is able to flex a particular amount through compression under the weight of the corner of the car, or droop with the weight of the tyre/wheel (let's say 4 inches of travel), if that spring is closer to the centre of the vehicle it allows more articulation at the wheel. NTs with WT diffs rock!

Haha, thought of that but it looked too hard to get the chassis rail and the diff centre in pretty much the same spot.

WT's in LJ50 is worth the effort IMO.

Spring pad spacing on an LJ is the same as a NT sierra, so chassis clearance isn't the problem. Diff offset re the transfer is an issue, but not a big one.

LJ50 spring spacing is 50mm inboard of LJ80 (each side). Also LJ chassis have the rails closer together. We have put 1 litre housings into LJ80 chassis to move them, seem to remember the centre would get close at best to the rail on articulation. Prefer the travel from the LJ50 spring and shock spacing though.

Fair point - I was looking at an 80 and noted chassis width in the front as the same as a sierra.

LJ 80 and LJ 50 chassis rails are the same width as each other, the spring pads are diffrent as 3cyl said where as 1Lt rails are wider..

Just doing some testing down the back yard this arv' the LJ50 is still under construction, checking for clearance since this time I've left out the body lift for stability. It's an example of LJ50 spring spacing with LJ80 track. Chassis is basically stock, springs are recycled and cambered widetrack Sierra and shocks are monroe gas second hand off a Daihatsu which a mate gave me. Still need to do the exo cage and front bar.

Wayne it's coming along nicely, did you get a pic of it sitting on the flat? The front is working heaps good, compared to the rear or it just the camera angle?
I know it has been a while building.... but how long before it's ready to wheel.
David

I'd say a couple of weeks David, but then I have said that before haven't I? The running gear is off the white one which always had more travel in the front than rear (front springs are closer together). So how's Heath's new rig going?
Edit: Didn't throw in this rear shot cause it's crap, there's some rear travel but more in the front.

Yeah I think it is going ok! He has spent a fair amount of money on it and he is getting the broken engine mount done next week along with turbo getting boosted and retuned. He is getting a new front bar and Safari Snorkel. and the list is not getting smaller of what he wants to do to it.
