G'day Guys and Gals

I have a G16A Vitara that has a few miles on it, and having a few problems. I've had the fuel solenoid removed as it wasn't idling once warm, so it idles fine now (just runs on a bit when turned off), but it's low on power, high on fuel consumption and a bit of a dog.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a carby specialist, or someone that's worked on their Zook with good results, in Newcastle.

If you could let me know who and a rough idea of price on a rebuild/tune-up, that'd be swell.

Make sure your vacuum advance is working, sound kinda like it's not..

How do I check that?

Not running, take the dizzy cap off, remove the vacc hose from as far from the dizzy as you can & suck on it, the button thing in the dizzy should turn a bit, not a lot but you should see it move.
If it doesn't move you either have a buggered hose or vacuum advance module..

The timing does advance when revved. Does that prove it's working?

No not necessarily the vacuum advance. The dizzy has both mechanical advance (rpm based) and vacuum advance (load based). Do as steak man said to see it the actuator in the dizzy is working. Then blow thru that hose connecting it to the carb, open the throttle a bit and you should be able to blow through it. Id also check if the choke flap opens up completely when warm.
