What are the chances of running 235/85r16 in my sierra, running 30x9.5r15 at the moment with no problems

Secondly which of these tires do you reckon are the best

Goodyear Wrangler MTR


Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac


Will be pretty much just offroad, lots of tassie mud

Consider some more tyres, there are so many different tyres out there! The only one I'd probably bother with that you have listed is the BFG, but they are so expensive (read as too expensive)...

A 235/85-16 sounds like a good size, would run them on mine if it was geared for it.

get maxxis treps $239 a tyre i got quoted a few months ago...

Best way to get cheap tyres is find an importer of the brand you want (if not australian) get a quote and go to someone who buys from the importer... sometimes they will undercut the importer... then you go back to the importer with that price and you get cheap cheap cheap tyres lol.

I have run a fair few different tyres over the years on my zooks and the KM2s chops all of them they work in the mud like a mud tyre should and they are quiet as all fuck on the road
BFGs have been around for many many years now and a lot of r&d has gone into them witch warrants the cost of em
How much r&d do ya think goes into the cheeper tyres that are on the market

I'm a BFG fan too. Damo runs 235/85R16's on his with no troubles. You will need gears though

i have definitly seen them perform. im not doubting they are a good tyre. They are actually the same tread pattern as the BFG krawler, just slightly less luggy. however. i would choose my firestone destination MTs any day of the week on and off road for a mud tyre. and far cheeper too.

My sisters prado had BFG ATs on it when she first got it and she lost it in the wet with the kids in the car so they came off pretty quick ive herd of this happening to a few people now.....and ive seen a few of them come back sepprated where the tread meets the sidewall so im not a fan of the BFG AT

another vote for bighorns.Have ran them in 32s and now 33s for the last 4 years on my hilux.Great tyre with minimal noise can only see them being better on the little zuks.I myself would also like KM2s but you gotta pay the big ones

Also you seemed to only put up the dear ones......maxxis will come in at a fraction of the price.i paid 240 for 33s a mate payed only 207.BFGs in 33 were about 365 plus here.

I run 33' Nankang Mudstars, they are only $180 here.

Basic mud pattern. I like em! Can't fault them. No balance problems. No flat problems. They do fine for me, In many conditions.

i went wheeling with a fella taht has em on his lux we all had a go at this hillclimb to exit the track chewed it out pretty hard.... few trolls n my zook had a go no luck all moved over to the side ..the lux just hit it second gear ..AND JUST WALKED IT NO WHEEL SPIN WAT SO EVER ... no lockers no nothing

Yep!

I can control my right foot on wet roads so its not such a big deal, but braking in the wet (anything more than the weight of my big toe) will lock up and its like ice skates....can even feel understeer when turning slowly. I drive extremely cautiously when its wet.

The worst is in stop start traffic.....sometimes you have to brake suddenly when someone cuts in....and i have almost zero confidence in them

I don't have any faulty tyres, all worn evenly, about 60% tread left, tried different pressures etc. It's mainly under braking (and aqua-planning at 80+ kmh) and i think they're simply dangerous - they don't give any warning and will just let go!

I'm concidering changing to the Duratracs.....however i can't find many reviews, only ones from guys in north america, who drive in ice and snow and most reports i've read seem pretty good. I figure they must be decent in the wet.

i love my km2's, and so far havn't come close to finding something that i would swap them for. i've had no probs in any condition, on or off road. the 235/85/16 are 32 inches, so they will sit 1in closer to your guards than your 30/9.5/15's, so get flexed up and break out the tape measure to see if they will fit

I've got bighorns... I've yet to have any dramas off road with them, though I haven't used them quite as much as I would have liked...

personally I'd go Bighorns, nankang mudstars or pro comp mud. all good all round tyres and not too expensive.

ive got both KM2's and Bighorns on my work utes at the moment and I can tell you in the mud the Bighorn shit all over the BFG.
on the road the bfg maybe a little quiter but they grip about the same the wear is the same but the BFG is about $80 a tyre more than the maxxis and belive me thats $240 you could spend a lot better.

ps we get about 80,000km from the bighorns and run them year round on well loaded utes so you cant ask for much better than that.
