You may have to lower the box a bit, taking the mount out should be enough, & take the selector box off & fill it through there..

:( still not sure where my selector box is

Sorry mate, just noticed this..

The bit the stick goes into bolt's to the g/box & is the selector box ( that's what I call it anyway) held on to the g/box by 4 12mm bolt's about 2inch's toward the eng..(from the stick hole)

Does that help??

It is a long skinny shifter extension (on the V6's at least) I can't imagine the oil would flow back through very quickly. From memory the gearbox breather comes off the front of the extension too.

Oh and the extension is an absolute fucker to get off with the box in the car!!!

its a 1.6EFI grand vit with what i can tell the type 1 gearbox, only takes 1.5L of oil, the type 2 takes something around 2.5L. i cant see any bolts ahead of the gear shifter either :(

well im starting to throw a paddy with filling the gearbox so iv decided to try drill and easy out teh fill plug, just a question,

if i remove the crossmember and lower the box down without detatching it from the engine, how much drop will i get roughly and is there anthing i should look out for. im thinking about useing a right angle drive on the drill to help out in the tight space

Take your dizzy cap off so it doesn't get damaged, you won't get a lot of room, but you can push the box to one side, it does help..
