hey guys im tryin to find out what hilux auto with married transfer will bolt up to the 4age,i currently have a 5 speed manuel. i want to run a duel set up off the auto to get a reduction of 8.5:1 with 3.7:1 gears in first box.it needs to be a gear not chain driven case.i have been told an A42D box will work. but no one will confirm this. i realise it will be massive under the zook but have a wheelbase of 110" linked both ends so not to worried with cv'd and box section tail sharfts etc. will be posting build pics soon

What 5 speed are you currently running, why do you think there is a hilux auto that will match up no hilux came with a A series engine, when they do put hilux boxes in behind 4age's they use an aftermarket bell housing

Good luck with that - if you find any 4 speed auto to work behind a 4A motor I'd be very keen to find out about it.
PS have you driven an auto with 8.5:1 transfer reduction? I don't think it would be much fun to drive. It will want to drive though the brakes, you'll have no wheelspeed (I notice you are in Vic - you'll be wanting wheelspeed on most obstacles I can think of) and you'll have to run a manual valve body so you can hold it in 3rd or OD.
I've not driven an auto with over 65:1 crawl + converter, but it had plenty of gears- even steep descents were in 2nd low as 1st was too low etc. Sounds like you are aiming for twice that much reduction. Seems a lot of work (and weight) for no real gain.
Steve.
