i have just replaced my rear diff centre after the bearings went in it. while it was apart, i had the rear wheel bearings and my drum brakes shoes and cylinders replaced. all was professionally fitted to the axle, but i fitted the axle back into the car myself, and replaced the outer seal at the same time. now, with the car still jacked off the ground, i can spin both tyres and they both spin waaaaaaay smoother than they used to, however both make a wierd noise that the old bearings never used to. being the same sound on both sides im thinking it may be normal, but better safe than sorry. the sound is hard to describe. closest i could do is a light tapping, the speed of which is directly proportional to how fast the wheel is spinning...
have i stuffed something up??
