1. I need Fog lights on my 93 LWB. Where is the best place to put them so they do the job.. I mean if they are at the same level as the headlights then there is gonna be major white out issues...

2. What are the best wiper blades for removing Muddy water that are street legal??

Get a Set of Lightforce 170's same as the ones on my Vit. Best lights ever made.. You can then change the covers to suit the driving conditions. The covers are cheap and unbreakable Lexen polycarbonate..

mmm... Wont they be at headlight level, I really need something down low...
I mean white out occurs even with Headlights on low, you practically have to switch to parkers and hope for the best.....

Your driving through the common and next thing....... eerilly white.. a Bug Splatter on your head light casts a shadow on the whiteness just metres from your car, you can see the reflectors in the road... only once you have passed them.. You carve the fog with your chunky wagon shape just to be swallowed up again...

The only cars that dont have an issue are SAABS and Volvo's

Mount anything too low and it will only last as long as your next trip off road...

On an off road vehicle, you really don't want to mount lights lower than the bumper/bull bar. Don't confuse Magnat's needs for fog lights for driving lights. Yes, it would be better to mount them lower, amber seems to be most effective. Strictly, fog lights should be used with parkers and no low beam, so they are wired differently to driving lights. Driving lights are no good in fog. I'd be going for a yellow light and focus it low. I lived in Toowoomba which as renowned for fog, but once I put fog lights on a car (below the bumper), I only used them a couple of times a year. Does not really matter what lights you have in fog, you have to go slow.

I Guess there could be some better globes to put in to give a better low beam?

Exactly the Lightforce lights have adjustable beam width just like a MAGLITE torch. If your worried about them being too bright just put 50watt OSRAM bulbs in them when your using them as fog lights.

Its not the Actual beams being to Bright, or the color, its just the white out effect happens when the lights cant shine down and underneath the fog.. the water particles just reflect the light back...

Next time your in fog, put High beams on and see the white out effect... its like driving with a white wall in front of you..

If I mounted the lights up as high as the headlights, and focussed them down, then the Ligth source is still at head light height which creates the white out effect at head light level..

Even with low beam, it still makes things rather hairy.. I have at one stage had to drop back to parkers and have the intererior lights switched on..

and this was in a Street light illuminated stretch!

I can use my 240's with normal spot covers on them, lots of reflection but still cuts through enough to see where you are going

Its not the maglight effect of the adjustable ring, that just movs the globe closer or further from the reflectior and provides no help at all, what will help as magnat mentioned is the shape of the beam, wide and low and the colour of the light only deep yellow or amber will not reflect back. Ahain the 170's or 140's from Lightforce will be able to have the wide beam ambner covers to get teh light pattern desired. Also the covers won't melt as thy are bulletproof and baseball bat proof lexan!

use the 140's mounted on the bullbar in the usual place you would.

i get a hell of alot of fog out my way in the mornings .. i have the XGT's mounted on the front of my car & work perfectly. We used them in the snow as well.
Get the orange/ amber covers they will work better in the fog & make sure you get the wide beam covers too

clean glass and rubber blades, throw em out after 6 months cause they will be stuffed, but unlike all those silicon thingd they wont scratch the screen and will still sorta work when covered in mud

yep seems like we all agree, with one difference the Lightofrce 140's are a waste of money as for $10 more you can have the 170's! its a supply ands demand thing!

So as long as I get the Amber ones, I should be OK? I just dont want anything too huge as the dickheads in our area like to take pot shots of your Driving lights with Beer bottles...

Yeah the 170's are are a good option for price and versatility and the amber coves will protect you from idiots as well as rocks etc.
