what is this censer for? its on the manifold that was on the old engine but not on the import. can i leave the connection off on not get a fault?

what year engine is this off?
if its a really late engine, i think it is where the idle air control valve is located..

but the photo is pretty hard to see..

the manifold is off a 95. the dizzy has the 4 wire connection. the import has the 2 wire dizzy

i'm pointing at the bit under the pipe.

if its the aic will the engine run with out it on import engine that never had it?

You'll need some thing to control idle, It's just a ecu controlled air bypass, bypasses the butterfly to let more air in, more air the higher the idle goes..

But it is needed lot's..

To answer your question tho, yeas it will run, but the idle can not be controlled, unless you get out & adjust it..

you are probably better off fitting the manifold that belongs to teh ecu you are going to use

didn't want to hear that. i still have the manifold (its the one in the pic) so i'll have to swap that this weekend.

on a side note the top half of the manifolds are different sizes so the dont bolt up :cry:

out of every engine i have worked on the 16b is the hardest to work on. you need little kid hands to get to the bolts

are you serious? i'm 6'4" with big arse man hands and i still don't have any dramas working on a 16b. i think you have not worked on too many engines then.

i have worked on a few but mostly older engines. i did think the last rover i had was hard till i got this :)
