Hey guys.I have the standard rims on my 94 SWB Vit.I want to know from anyone outthere,is what is the widest width tyre you can put on the standard rims before you have to start lifting for clearance.

hey Mate, I have a 94 vit and i'm just starting to look for new tyres and from what I can figure 215's are the widest before you have to go to 7inch rims, I think  , but there are plenty of guys on here that will correct me if i'm wrong.....

I know plenty of people running 235s on 5.5 inch rims, so you can definitely go bigger than 215.
As for lifting for clearances, I ran 235/75/15s for ages on a SWB vit with no lift.
Lift will also not necessarily allow you to run wider tyres, only taller tyres...

235/75 is the largest you can run safely on a 5.5" rim.

i ran 235 on mine with no lift for over 2 yrs, but that was on a 7" rim, it scrubed but only because of the offset rims.
i no a few that run on 235 on std rim, have no scrubing issues with no lift. just do it.

Thanks guys for your helpful info.The main concern was if there was any scraping from the tyres when turning because of the extra width.

31's on 5.5's it drove fine only on full lock scrubbed. that was sagged standard suspension too.

sorry wrongone that has 2 inch body lift there although i did drive it with out the body lift and it drove well. minor scrubbing on full lock
