the old girl is being a complete pain again, between the 4500-3000rpm range when backing off it makes a sound like it is backfireing sortta pops a few times but once under 3000rpm it doesn't do it.
any ideas as what is going on?
(some motor bikes make the same sound when slowing down off the throttle)

Thanks in advance
Grizz

don't have shackles it a vitara.
royce i'd say it might the exhaust leak
i'll look into to it more when the car is actually running, starter motor is stuffed so $147-155 for a brand new one then i'll get back on the case of the noise.
royce none of that will damage the car will it?

I'm draging this back from the dead.
noticed another wierd noise the other day, was coming back down a hill 2nd gear, under 3000rpm and i heard a faint sound i had my foot on the brake so i took me foot off noise could still be just heard stick me head out tha window and put me foot on tha clutch noise goes let the clutch out it comes back and it's at the rear of the car. The noise is a poping sound and almost sounds like someone is taping a wooden spoon on the bottom of a big sourcepan.

You ran over a leprechaun and he got caught up underneath somewhere, he's been banging away on that bloody ''sourcepan" :P for days trying to get your attention!

EDIT: actually it's not a leprechaun, it's the rider off the kawasaki :D
