As the subject mentions, my indicator doesn't turn itself off after cornering. I've Bought a new (second hand) indicator stalk assembly, but after looking at it i cant imagine how that is going to fix the problem (it looks almost identical)

From what i can see, the indicator stalk moves a large plastic rectangle that goes around the steering column, and on the two corners on the opposite side of the indicator stalk, there are two "bumpers" which look like they are what turns the indicator off.

I can't see anything on the steering colum that looks like it is supposed to hit those bumpers, and i'm thinking that might be the problem...

Any help is appreciated

Aha... found the pins on the back of the original steering wheel, yes i'm using an aftermarket steering wheel...

I feel a little silly now, i was assuming that the pins would be on the steering column not on the steering wheel, and didnt even look at the steering wheel...

Thanks, will look at modifying the setup slightly to work with the new steering wheel...

on a vitara the pins need to be set at 12 & 6 o'clock, mine had roll pins in the boss kit that i needed to remove to work on my slightly SV420 vitara, the pins are on the column instead of the wheel.

Got it working fairly easily, just needed to drill a couple of holes in the new mount (the adaptor that connects the steering column splines to the actual steering wheel) and put a couple of roll pins down there, and now it works like factory...

sorry, i've put it all back together before i saw your post, and didn't take any photos... however i will try and explain using google pictures.

1) Remove Steering wheel (I needed a 17mm socket and a Harmonic Balancer Puller or similar to pull the wheel off)

2) Behind the steering wheel is the indicator stalk assembly, and if you move the indicator stalk, you'll see there is a big rectangular peice of plastic that goes around the steering column. (see attached image) There are two "bumpers" on the opposide side of that rectangle that, when hitting a pin on the steering wheel, turn your indicator off. The original steering wheel has them on the steering wheel, the aftermarket one does not, so simply put, we are going to mark out exactly where they would be on an original steering wheel, and attach them to the aftermarket one.

3) Original steering wheels attach directly to the splines on the steering column, however with my aftermarket one, i have a "boss kit" that looks like this:

This connects to my steering column splines and the steering wheel bolts onto this also (on the circle held up by 4 arms - the top of the peice on the right of that picture)

4) All you need to do, is line up your steering wheel (and wheels and everything inbetween) to be facing directly straight ahead, then mark out where straight up is on your boss kit. Then get your old, original steering wheel, and on the back of it you'll notice two pins sticking out of it. Measure the distance between these two pins. Mark and drill two holes slightly smaller than the roller pins you have into the boss kit to mimic the original steering wheel.

5) using a hammer, hammer the roller pins into the hole. Trim them off if they are too long.

6) put everything back together, and everything should work fine

nice write up, the "middle piece" you refer to is known as a boss kit.

Darkhorse off here recently had to do something similar with his boss kit using pop rivets that he only "half compressed" so the nail bit was still in the rivet part acting as the canceling pins.

Ahh nice... i get much better google image results when i search for "boss kit" rather than "steering wheel adapter"

On the original steering wheel i noticed they actually used roll pins, hence why i used them too on the aftermarket ones. Anything really will work though,
