hi, tried searching but couldnt find exactly what i was after.

I have just purchased a 1996 SWB Vitara which is fitted with auto locking hubs. The first mod i will do is change these to manual hubs.

Not sure if im going to buy new or used hubs as yet. If u buy used would they require new gaskets and o-rings? or do they just bolt straight on. I understand they would probably need a regrease.

If i buy a set new do they come with all the gaskets required for fitting and is it a very straight-forward job that i could just do myself or are special tools required?

Does anybody have pics of how to do the conversion from what i understand they are just unbolt the old and bolt on the new?

cheers

the stock vitara FWH are the better option, there are a lot of stories going around of AMV hubs failing.

it's a direct swap, unbolt the auto hubs & bolt on the manual hubs. there are a couple of rubber O rings that are usually ok to reuse on the the standard FWH's... depending on the condition they could possible do with a clean & regrease.

thanks atari,
standard suzuki ones it is. shall give the wreckers a call and get a few quotes. good to know its an easy job. and if its just o-rings they are easy to replace.

Thanks

The only problem I've had with mine is that the bolts come out, but I think that's because I didn't tighten them up enough. Other than that, All good.
