Has anyone done a clutch cable to hydraulic conversion on a 94 Vitara?

Is it worth doing?

Failing that is it better to go genuine or aftermarket on the cable?

there isnt the room and you wont get a slave cylinder with enough stroke (I looked into it a while ago)

I modded mine to take a reinforced cable from a sierra (suzistore sell em for $55) genuine and non genuine vit cables are the same

what year is yours? if you have the type that bolts to a bracket on the block you may need no mods, mines the later one with the stupid rubber bung holding it in

jsut get the cable bracket off a sierra and drill new holes in it so it fits on the right place on the block (one hole pokes off the edge a bit) and stick it on and adjsut it up, it all fits on the pedal and firewall fine

yeah mine was doing that with teh original cable, then an aftermarket vit cable(eventually failed and split the outer) then a genuine vit one (same failure) then a second hand sierra one then the one I have now, the outer is like a big springwrapped around it and has been fine for 14 months, after I took the stupid heavy duty clutch out and fitted a normal one

If you have a standard clutch you are probably ok with a vit cable from suziwest, I only went through all that trying to get it to work with the heavy duty clutch

they get hot where it clips to teh bottom radiator hose, I insulated mine there as well

I had to replace my clutch cable like 2 days ago week.. :O
it snapped in the middle of nowhere at like 9:30 at night - no phone reception or help hahah!
Had to drive it back with no clutch - finally got it moving and made it home an hour and a half later... hahah
But yeh i ended up getting mine from Veale's since it was cheaper for me
looks exactly the same as that one from suzistore but make sure u get the right one for ur car there is 2 types one with 2 bolts on the end and one with the round thing(on the right side of the pic in that link - its the end that attaches to the clutch arms underneath ur car - have a look what type u got first and it will save u some messign around
