I was looking at changing my brakes pad/shoes today and it seems Suzuki used blind Freddy to select brake components.

I have a 2002 GV swb.

The front pads are from a Vitara 1.6l - Bendix part no. DB1266. I can confirm this as I've had trouble changing the pads 3 years ago.

The rear shoes are from the GV 2.5l - part no. N1787. I had originally thought the shoes shouldn't been N1683 (220mm x 34mm) but my shoes are 40mm wide which corresponds to the N1787. Plus the profile/holes of my shoe seems to match the catalogue.

Grrr, so frustrating sometimes.

I know Bendix is the most trusted brand for pads/shoes, and I've used them in the past... but what do people think about the other brands - Ferodo etc?

so you could fit 15" rims easy enough? see how your front rotor compares to the measurments on the dba listings for a gv rotor and a 1.6 rotor as they are heaps different

Why would I want to fit 15" rims?

from a standpoint of yes you can cause its got 1.6 brakes, IE a GV wont normally fit 15" rims

That's strange as my SV420 runs the larger calipers & disk brakes.

It's a weird one. In the past my mechanic tried DB1312 which is what's listed for the GV but they didn't fit.

Are they a green and yellow box? if they are I had some in my sierra, seemed to stop most of the time

Ive always used bendix unless it was to go to a better pad, IE EBC or something, doesnt seem like its something worth re-inventing the wheel on

I just checked the service manual and it seems I definitely have 1.6 front brakes.

Have no idea why though as the previous owner never took it off road and I have 16" rims.

I think because its a SWB, that you may have the smaller brakes off the 1.6L...

Bedix are Good... Ferodo are o...k, but wear quickly...
