Looking at making my headlights a lil brighter as there quite dull and yellow. What options are there without going a HID conversion kit, any globe upgrades, etc. cheers in advance guys

there's a fare few different bulbs out there it depends on how much you want to spend

i got jap import bulbs from an import wreckers and there pretty bright they cost me $30

I did a wiring upgrade and then tried various +% bulbs.

The wiring upgrade was probably the better of the two and quite easy.

thats why i thought globes might be the cheapest.

Bypass the factory wiring to the headlights. Just use the factory headlight connector as a trigger to some relays. You can then use thicker wiring from the battery to the headlights. Just like wiring up spotties. There's a diagram in here if you search.

yeah think i found it.
think i'll upgrade the loom and throw in some brighter globes

to make a loom you unplug the old plugs at the back of the lights and use new thicker wiring and relays with new plugs to plug back in. There is a wiring diagram floating around somewhere of how to wire it up. will cost about $100 for barts and new brighter bulbs. I did this a few years ago and it worked well.

now i just do the easy way and use phillips 80% more power bulbs coz u can use stock wiring. Bulbs cost arond $50 a pair from memory but are heaps better. The advantage of upgrading the wiring is that the same phillips bulbs will be a little brighter and you can put more powerful bulbs like 60/90W or even up to 130W and it wont melt the wires. now there's some high beams!!!

Blew low beam on both Blue Power globes after about 20 hours running - went in the middle of the Nullabor. Swapped in some 130/100W H4 spotlight globes I had in my spares and they've been in there ever since! They are bright With the height of my Zook I just make sure the low beam is angled down at the road, and I've only been flashed once or twice in the year I've been running them.

H4 inserts are available from most auto stores for about $70-$80 a pair. H4 globes range from $5 ea for bog standard 60/55W to $80? a pair for Narva Blue Artic Ultra Xenon Powerblaster Giveusyamoney Extremes.

New loom is DEFINITELY recommended. Might not look like much more light on my old carport door, but it's a heap out on the highway.
