g'day

can you recommend a good carby specialist in sydney. I don't know much about carby and can't find vitara carby manual anywhere on the net, so I think I get the professional do the job. Vit workshop manual covers my engine and vit manual g-box, but not the carby, only TBI. I know that choke doesn't work properly and mixture is to rich. she revs lower when cold(no choke), but once hot it sounds like working and idling fine. However you can tell she's running rich because when I start the engine you can sort of smell petrol

I concur it is running rich - I get slightly high whenever Chris comes over.

don't they tune up carby on the car, so they can connect exhaust gases analyser or sth like that? i thought that's the way they do. I possibly could live one week without a car, but i need it at the moment anyway.

go to your local wreckers on the weekend and buy ya self a Corolla 3K or 4K carby. direct bolt on and will inprove on and off road performance. Just dont forget to grab the accelerator bracket and a manual choke cable while ya there. These are a very simple carby to mount and fix. Stock air box will connect up also.

this bloke has rebuilt a few sierra carbies for me.
Ace Carburettors & EFI Services Blacktown
Not the cheepest but you get what you pay for and you will quickly get payback in increased fuel economy

OK I am going to get a 4k this arvo, as well as the accel bracket and man choke cable. Anything else I should grab while i'm there?

Also, they can be rotated so the fuel bowl is at the firewall side, correct? Anything additional needed for this?

I will swap it once I get a man choke cable from somewhere, as well as work out what needs to connect to what.

The fuel solenoid, does it just connect to the Zook solenoid wiring?

Yes it plugs right in. Blank off all vac lines apart from dizzy and carbon cannister. You will need one std in the manifold as there is not enough space to get a bolt in that is long enough. No real need to mount backwards. Ive never had a problem and i do drive some rather silly angles...just ask foolsp33d, PJzook or 86slowsierra. bolt on and drive.
The only tricky part is you need to file some grooves in the spacer plate to allow vac ports to do their thing.
