Hey guys, i know this has been asked before and before you tell me to go search, i have and i've found some good info however, what i wanna know is this, if i already have a 1.6 8 valve carby engine in my sierra, am i better off putting a weber 32/36 conversion kit on it for $700 or getting a suzi baleno wreck or similar and bolting the head and computer into my sierra. i would prefer this to changing out the entire motor as the engine in it only has 80,000k's on it. Also how hard is the swap, im a 3r year apprentice marine mechanic so im pretty competent ? so its either $700 for 100 year old technology that is temperamental on inclines or probably $800 for EFI ?
Thanks in advance
Jonny

Webbers are shit.

And the baleno is a 16V, so you would need to change the pistons in your 8v before you could fit the baleno head.

Easier and cheaper to buy said Baleno, fit that motor, then sell your G16a to recoupe some money.

How about the throttle body injection that did come out on some 1600's? Webers arn't that bad at all unless your always driving extreme angles. Mine ran beautifully for the 4 or so years I had it. No dramas what so ever!

Both are non interference, unless you have 8v pistons under a 16v head

Webbers are great for onroad, but unless you REALLY know your shit when it comes to webbers, you will have flooding issues on hills and sideangles when offroad. The 8v vitara carb is a better choice for offroad use IMO.

Pretty much answered your own question there.

I's been proven over and over. Carby and EFI might make the same outright WOT power on a dyno, but real world, EFI is outstandingly better.

getting the engine that cheap it probably wont cost a whole lot all up

sierra tacho can be hooked up - mine is - but a proper instrument place made the converter box for me. Only cost $80.
