After driving one of my Vitaras (93 LWB) I'm noticing the smell of fumes. Anyone able to tell me how to check where it's coming from?

Didn't see that..
hole in the exhaust, tail pipe rusted off & tail gate seal not sealing.

when you really rev it hard, can you hear any holes in the exhaust? the sound will be obvious, and from personal experience its louder when its under load, such as foot flat in say 1st or 2nd gear. one simple and quick check, look at the entire exhaust, look for any black soot marks from where exhaust gasses may be escaping where they shouldnt.

Woudln't be surprised if this was it. Would there be any other symptoms, and how could I inspect or adjust it?
