What are peoples opinions on the rocky road coil kits for the Sierra? Anyone used these?

I doubt there would be many of these in Australia.

And $1300 USD plus shipping would probably end up costing you $2K.

converting from leaf to coil isnt going to mean more comfort unless you're scarificing handling and roll stiffness for it... theres plently of softly sprung zuks out there that could not successfully reproduce a lane change test without lifting a wheel or worse, flipping over at speed... if you do convert to coils do not expect a more comfortable ride for the same performance - you might get better flex offroad but it would likely be at the cost of onroad manners (or perhaps driving the entry tracks to your favourite spot).

from what i'v read on the net not many people have had good experiences with that company or the quality of the kit --->

chris weaves has that set of fandangle diffs at work

also, you could prob's find a fabricator in aus that would do it for you... i know that overkill (this is 2years ago) said they would do an end for 4K...

anyway, let me know what you end up doing....

without vendor bashing, certain companies mentioned in this thread that are not rocky road offroad should not be trusted...

If your going to go coils.. are you planning rear only? or front and rear?

also i know your chasing more width etc. Why not chase some bundy diffs (the coiled ones not the middy leaf ones) and adapt all their standard bracketry to the seirra chassis? some different rate springs would see that setup work well.

Another thing i reckon would suit you would be to get a second chassis, have it linked and coiled, then swap your driveline over. If the chassis is fully linked. on wheels with diffs in, a full driveline and body swap could be done over a busy weekend, or over a couple of weekends.

you don't have to sacrifice roll stiffness or handling for comfort when doing coils, that usualy comes from a poor ballsed up job.

Yea width is another thing but don't want to lose clearance so would need to shave them etc. Coils would be front and rear

Thats the maximum width a vehicle can be without it being oversize

Now double check your state laws on Track changes.

Zook diffs range from 1000-1300mm

Well thats not the case in QLD. You aren't allowed to modify the wheel track by more than 50mm or something. You can fit wider diffs, but the use of positive offset rims would be required to correct the track. :cry:

bundera's have the same width as hilux, the has an offset centre unlike the hilux and they have different gears. other than that they are essentially the same besides the coil/leaf mounts

So.

Plenty of shit gets engineered, but that doesn't make it legal. DOT have full authority to overturn ANY engineering papers on the spot. And there aint a thing you can do about it.

And I believe bundy diffs are the same width as non-IFS diffs. They just have an offset rear drive.
