Absolutely.

I think your approach sounds well thought out. Most don't consider past bolting the parts to the car and getting the boost guage to read over 10psi.

I have an EMS ECU for cammo. Pretty good setup from what I have seen.

a few mods and the g16b motors will take it. Stock engine blocks are generally fairly tough its internals that do the damage and with a good tune internals will handle more than the 6 to 10 that people start with. I know its a different beast but the standard 3rz-fe block the previous hilux 2.7 liter could handle 1000hp internals were a bit different but block was the same. Also the car that held the record for the fastest time up pikes peak was a specially built escudo (vitara) with the engine based on the 2.0 v6 that was brought into their production vehicles now the internals were very different but the block was virtually unchanged and that engine was putting out 998hp.

im just saying that these engines are tough but you can destroy anything if you do the wrong thing.

Reckon it would be worth running without the turbo?? :?

I've been told the stock tune is quite conservitive, so perhaps there are gains to be had from the G16B in NA form? :?

The cast pistons in the G16 have very small ring lands so they are the first to let go. Have a look though oozuk's build thread and the problems he initially had. But yea you need to find someone that knows how to setup a descent tune if ya wanna remotely combine boost with reliability!

For sure, deffo reckon there are some drivability gains compared to the stock tight emissions unit. Mine for instance is tuned so super lean on idle that it idles rougher than my flatmates 8v carb unit. I have tested this by playing with the cone style airflow meter while it has been running. Smoothens out quite a bit!

I've done a fair bit of research over the years and for what it's worth I think the SC12 is the way to go. I even went as far as buying one. It's still in the shed. The AMR300 is too small, AMR500 is too hard to get, SC14 is too large. Check out Mart's old truck. He had to severely underdrive his SC14. I've got a PM from years ago telling me all the problems he had running it. The eaton would be nice but depending what it's off it would be a pain to plumb in.

With the stock SC12 pulley BASED ON MATHS (not experience) it should run around the 7-8 psi mark if driven at 1:1. The SC12 pulley is around 120 -125mm which means you need a similar sized crank pulley off a g-series engine which isn't hard to find. I'd planned on running it on an 8 valve g16 which has compression more conducive to running boost. I think the 16 valve runs higher compression which might be an issue for you.

Run one and let me know if it works. If it doesn't blow up I might be more motivated to fit mine. :)
