I've got auto lockers front and rear with 31x10.5 MTRs on 15x7 F100 rims. I only managed to get 4 rims when I bought them and haven't chased up another since, so when I go bush I just take one (or two if I have the trailer) of my stock 15x5.5 rims with 205/70R15 HTs as spares. Not ideal but with some juggling of front and rear tyres it would get me out of trouble - but would be better if the spare more closely matched the running tyres.

What's a big, narrow, lightish tyre (HT/AT is fine) that I can fit to the 15x5.5 rims for a spare? Or alternatively, are there any really skinny 31's that could be fitted to 15x7 F100 rims? I'm wanting to put these on my trailer as well so I'd end up with 1 x spare on the car, 2 x trailer wheels and 1 x spare on trailer. That gives me 2 usable spares with the trailer still rolling, or 4 spares if I leave or skulldrag the trailer.

I have a hard top so with the increased lever arm between the hinges I'm somewhat confident that they'll take the weight of a light 31" HT/AT carcase and rim??

The skinniest tyres i have seen are normally on toyo split rims. I think they are 16"s, LT tyres.

Moph this may sound stupid but if u wanta free rim and tyre and u live close to the pines go for a drive and u will most likely find what ur looking for

a 265/75 = 30.5" - same as the 31" coopers... i'd look for a budget tyre in that kinda size... however, 235/85-16's are available in some brands, which means a more lightweight (skinnier) tyre - essentially a 31x9.25! =)

I'd run a 7.00X16 or a 7.50 16 on a 16X4.5 stock LJ/commercial sierra rim.

Quite a few guys in Vic do it.

For the amount a spare gets used it's not worth running anything better.

Cool - that sounds the ticket. Wasn't aware that the LJ's and commercials were a narrower rim. Am I best going for a straight 7.00X16 HT (eg Bridgestone R200) on the trailer or is it worth having a bit of lateral grip? Given that they're non-driven I'm thinking smooth is the go?

I carry a 205/65/15 in mine.even with 34's in planning on using it.

I'd use road pattern - less power required to pull it down the road.
