I currently have a pretty decent alloy bullbar, but considering a winch. will it be strong enough as Sierras are pretty light.

We will need pics to prove your definition of 'pretty decent'.

You could always make a steel winch cradle for behind the alloy bar.....

Yeah was thinking of making something up behind the bullbar to strenghten it and take some of the weight, just to be sure

I currently have a "pretty decent" alloy bar on the front of my zook.

In my opinion, the alloy bar alone will not be strong enough for a winch without some serious re-design...

As Fatzook has said, you could build a steel cage behind the alloy bar to support the winch... I have been over these options myself, and decided that it was a MUCH easier and stronger job to forget about going down that track, and just get hold of a good steel winch bar instead! I will have my new steel bar bolted up shortly!

ps - your zook might be light, but the Patrols you will be recovering wont be!

Universal cradle off fleabay - about $80 (pick the 6mm steel plate one, not the lightweight jobbies)
Custom brackets from Fatzook - $Depends on design I guess, but the price for mine was good! Just need to give him dimensions.

Few extra bits and pieces, you can design in a bash plate too if you want...
