Make sure they are from a WT maruti only!!
The NT marutis are ALL 1 litre housings and centres.

It now needs ratios & traction control.
Any advice? He tells me that his high pinion front and low pinion rear contain 4.3:1 gears. It's very unlikely it has 4.3 gears. Whilst the brochure said that 4.3's were possible on automatic Jimny's, apparently nobody has every seen any, so they're generally all 4.1. Whilst the rear of a jimny is the same as sierra, so can run any ratio a 1.3 sierra can, the front of jimny is unique to the jimny. There are some ways to run a sierra diff, but it's pretty much a fabrication project and requires steering modifications etc. (because there's no high pinion sierra diff) I'd be looking at leaving the diffs alone and fitting a gear driven sierra transfer case. It's a bit complex to do, and not all that cheap if you sort the speedo drive and have to buy parts, but it will fix both high and low range nicely. With 235 tyres, even stock gearing would be fine, or some 4:1 transfer gears would be sweet with lockers in the diffs. Others may have a different take on the solution. Steve.
Jimnys are 4.09. As seen in my 00 m13a auto.

4.16 t-case + 4.3 R&P's = 33's

So by that logic,
4.16 t-case, 4.6 R&P's = 35's

I don't have a gearing calc, but it's the ratio's I've run for the past few years without complaints.

No idea mate. I have no tacho (maruti).
When I'm home next I'll whack the laptop on the ecu and check it during a drive.

If fitting 5:12's from Vitara carrier onto a Sierra carrier, do I need to do something to stop diff pins falling out?
Searching around says yes and no depending where I look
Will be using Spartan locker into Sierra 4 pin carrier, with Vitara ring and pinion into GVsteel diff...onto my Vitara front end
It appears that it is a 2 pin Sierra carrier in there anyway, not the 3 pin I'm told should be in it.. funnnn

Yes.
Peening the case over the end of the pins is probably the best option.
Other ideas have been an O-ring slipped over the carrier, an aluminium sleeve, or welding.
Peening seems to work quite well- the method Matt from Total Traction uses.
Steve.

Can't argue with Matts expertise, thanks Mate.
An o ring was going to be another $50, but peening sounds doable.
Looking at the spare vit diff (from CJ) it appears to have been peened over.
It is definately a 2 pinion carrier, with a largish gap to the ring gear.

My advice is to research properly 1st!!
Ive been trying to get a good balance of off road and on for ages!
3.9diffs 4.16 t/c and 30s=not low enough off road
4.6diffs 4.16 t/c and 30s= too low on road
4.6diffs 4.16 t/c and 31s better all round but still a little too low on road.
4.6diffs 4.16 t/c and 32s now not low enough off road
4.6diffs 4.16 t/c 32s and 1500 datto and auto=too low on road 3speed auto
3.9diffs 4.16 t/c 32s and 1500 datto and auto ok but auto sucks (mine did)
4.8toys 4.16 t/c 33s and 1300 too low on road to high off road
4.8 4.16 t/c 33s and 1600 vit more torque off road but still too high on road
4.8 6.5 t/c 33s and 33s awsome oof road way too low on road
4.8 6.5 t/c 35s good off road ok on road still revs high
get done for dodgy engineer so have to go back to 33s!!!
Atm 4.8s stock t/c 33s does 4000rpm at 100km
I know thats along post of useless garbage but the point is for a d/d do the maths 1st or you will hate life!!
Now Im thinking 4.5 diffs 4.16 t/c and 33s for the best all round (Im old now lol)
Ive got a few 4.6 diffs from suzi 4 wreckers for alot cheaper than newy wreckers want for 3.9 seirra diffs. (and Ive never broken any)
