I have just been to the local paint shop and had a talk with the lady there about spraying my sierra, she recommends that i use an industrial 2 pac over an automotive one. ? It will be about half the price.

Can anyone tell me if there is much of a difference ?

She recommends Interprime 198 with Interthane 990 over the top ?

ask here for the tech sheets for both
they will tell what they belive is a good combination.
dont trust the paint place, the either want a sale or just dont know, check yourself first.
what is the actual brand?
It sounds like she is telling you to use a two pak acrylic enamel primer and a two pak polyurathane top coat which should be ok and wear well BUT check first
or find the sheets on the web and I'll check for you.

She said it would be heavy duty.

ok I found it.
Stay right away from that stuff.
the top coat has a 1hour flash touch dry time at 40 deg c
and 2 hours at 20 deg
which is way to long
and its more designed as a stuctural paint not automotive
they dont make auto products either.
couldnt find the primer listed but all their primers are not really what you want.

there are lots of cheaper auto paints that are great value and work well,have a look around.

one of my favorites for ease of use is hichem/motospray
it wears well if you use 2pak with fast hardener and fast reducer it sprays well in the garage etc.
protech 2 pak is good.
there are plenty of others in 2 pak.
you can use spraying enamel too but its not as durable and wont last as long, but you can get good results with it too.
this is mine done in the driveway on a 12-15deg day (my shed was full at the time)
its motorspray with fast reducer and super fast hardner it was touch dry each coat by the time I got round the car. 3 coats in total.
