G'day

I'm looking for a new gasket/seals kit for G16a engine and I came upon a different set valve regrind/top overhaul kit. what is valve regrind?
do you do it to increase performance or when you recondition the engine?

when I bought my zook I was told it has reconditioned engine. Does it mean it has valve regrind done and how could I tell. is it visible or possible to check? I still don't know much about engines, hence my questions

thanks

Chris

A valve grind is basically grinding the valve sealing surfaces to make them seal against the valve seat perfectly.

There are many different levels of rebuilds, from the basic bearing change and piston rings, to full on 'replace and/or machine everything' rebuild, depends on what they did.
If the head has been rebuilt, then your valves may have been ground, its too hard to tell without receipts.

back in the old old days you had to grind the valves and seats to reseat them almost as a major service item, combined with most shitty british engines being able to burn valves on command thats where the term Valve regrind set or VRS set came from when talking gaskets, IE all the gaskets needed to get the valves out.
Its stuck asteh easy way to get what you need to replace a blown gasket / buggered head with some leftovers so now you tart to see head sets which are like a VRS set missing a few bits

chances are you dont need to worry about it anytime in the life of your engine

Be sure to find out if the head gasket is single touque or not, last thing you want is it blowing 2 week's later from not getting re_tensioned..

That's another reason I like Acl's Mono_torque set's.. :P
