it's pretty witty really..

what makes you think that it would be any different to put 33's on the same car because of location? it rains less here so you can probably even put them on without getting wet

Your first search wasn't good enough so your not allowed to ask any questions until you search some more. Even if you can't find the answers your looking for, keep searching.

it really depends what state your planning on living in.
If its southern australia you can run really big tyres as the earths gravity is stonger the further south you go, therfore the cog (center of gravity) of you car gets lower and you can run really big tyres maybe even 37 - 40" in tasmania(not that anyone wants to live there).
If your going to darwin and why would you? You could only safely run 30 -31' tyres as there is almost no gravity near the equator, and cars just fall over by themselves there.
I hope this helps

Ok now we have a location, I can tell you its only legal to run 31" tyres at that north up australia due to the dwindling gravity that far up the country.
there are serious fines for running bigger tyres so far up the country so it might be safer to run 30 inch tyres just incase you drive to far north by mistake.
cheers andrew

or you could move to a place that is so awesome it is called a territory and as long as you avoid
the cesspit of a capital city nobody cares what ya do just so long as you dont impact
on anybody's lifestyle.

It can't, shouldn't and won't be done because it's Illegal, unless you get it legal.

Do a search.

no idea what the gravity crap you are on about i, in joke I guess.

We are getting all our stuff shipped out and we can fit the SJ in the container with our furniture and stuff so its not really costing anything as my wifes employer is paying for the move

hahah OMG talk about hassling the new guy =) hahaha

33's anywhere in australia on a sierra is gonna be tough to engineer - why do i say engineer? because the laws here dont allow for much modification without a consulting engineer and the appropriate imposed testing...

for example: i'm in perth and run 31s... my zuk is the last in WA to pass under the 'old' legistlation on modded 4x4s. i had to have an engineer sign off on the mods as well as do the 'lane change test' (search youtube for suzuki sierra lane change). with WA's new laws you'd be lucky to get 29's passed on a sierra... its fucked. technically a sierra cant legally run a 215/75r15 in WA (stock size is 205/70r15).

anyway - like others said, sell the car over there and buy one over here - be far cheaper. then, once you get here talk to local authorities about what you can and cant do, and like 99% of people on here, ignore what they tell you and do whatever you want anyway =) lol

ahh an answer that makes sense.

So an engineer is a legal person or something. We will be in QLD so do they have the same lane change as WA?

No need to sell and buy as its costing me nothing to bring here will just have to get a tag or whatever you have and clean the living heck out of it before bringing it in.

an engineer is an automotive engineer - someone who has the knowledge, training and experience to certify modifications are safe.

You need an engineer to certify modifications (as you'll need some severe mods to clear 33s) before the goverment would sign off on them being legal (a special permit)... however like i said the laws changed here in WA and in QLD are stricter still.

It would be best you spend some time on the phone with the people at transport in QLD, information on which is here: http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Safety/Vehicl ... tions.aspx

Happy reading =)

i just wrote up in the other thread the rules for QLD, mate there is no way of making 33's legal in this state. It is retarded and you just have to live with it. Most coppers won't care about sizes around 29", some get away with bigger. Best solution is to have a spare set of tyres for play so the car is not often seen with the big tyres.
