Hey guys, in the process of getting bits together for a jimny front mount conversion. Could someone stock or not, please post a close up photo of the front suspension set up??

I have Jimny front shock/coil mounts here, one have the chassis cut off the other one still has the chassis
on it. A few bob and they're all yours. :wink:

Well im still kind of deciding, i just bought the springs i need, so i might as well try the strut idea first, it will only cost me 120 or so for the shocks i need.

don't waste your money mate. Struts are shit, shock/spring combo will work better everyday of the week.

yeh i hear ya. more work for pete if i chose to go jimny though haha.

I will keep looking. cant go off road till next tuesday anyway, flexed coily up at petes and my brake line is mega stretched

Have you taken it out of it's holder at the front yet?

yeh and moved the bracket. its the brake line in the back though. she is rooted. im trying to get my head around how the front strut would work after its been modified. ie, new shock, weld bottom seat on and extend the bottom to the diff. the shock would be fairly compressed at ride height??

Your not going to get any extra 'flex' by doing that, only ride height. Redundant exercise mate, bigger coils and shocks on each corner :wink:

yeh, by using the longer shock you would get more but not a worthwhile amount i dont think. Hmm

I've been looking at the d40's front strut's, but I think the shock's would be about the same length, so no gain..

huge diameter on the bore tho..

That's why I was looking at em, we dump heap's of em, thay can't handle 50kg or more on the front & have to have a "modified" strut & spring fitted..

the genuine ally bar with IPF's is just under 50kg. :lol:

we have a alloy canopy on ours at work and it rides rear down a fair bit even with it empty
