ok so i have blown my wheel bearing on my little zook today, and im now in the proccess of removing the old bearings of the axles, but my quesiton is how?

the bearing its self has a good 2 or 3 mm of play and will easily slip off, but the solid metal bit i can not get off, i dont want to bang it too hard incase i damage the splines, and im almost ready to go out and buy a press! but i have done that many car's without it im amazed that i cant get this off with all my other methods.

im thinking about trying to split it with a cold blow chisel but i cant find my one amoungst the mess in my shed soo i have resorted to the internet to give me the answers untill tomorrow when shops are open so i can replenish my tool collection

grinder time needs to be a massive press for that to work, and not worth just this one job, my press is more then handy tho....

Grind off the outer race.

I normally dremel the locating ring up, so i can get a cold chisel in there to seperate it enough.

Same as the inner race, if its stubborn.

New bearings get pressed (hammered) on with a long piece of pipe. The pipe has enough weight in it, don't even need a hammer. Very useful tool.
