gears will give you your power back... well, some of it...
i'd gear it first and learn to drive it. do the 1.6 later.

Here are 2 cheap mods that you can do to give you a little speed back before jumping into engine swaps.
1. 3.9:1 NT sierra diff centres. Your SJ70 ratios are 3.7:1, so the SJ50 (NT) centres will help a little bit.
2. Fit a 1Litre transfer case. The high range gearing is 12% lower than the SJ70 transfer. This will also help to correct your gearing.
These 2 mods will make your zook alot more drivable on and off-road, and shouldn't cost you more than $400-500.
Look at transfercase gear sets and power upgrades later

Fatzook is 100% correct, that is exactly what I would suggest, it is a sensible approach to getting the car to work properly with the larger wheels.

Well tehn in saying that a 4.16:1 reduction gear set can be had for ~$500-600 shipped from the states. May be even more cost/time effective solution than the above.
