hey all just wondering if there is somebody on the coast to help me get my 91 sj70 soft top runnin right (please)

ive tried every thing from changing carbys to replacing all hoses and she still runs with a slight miss and every now and then it stalls for no reason

Plugs and points, check timing advance too.

check for shit in the tank i saw a gum nut do the same thing, gets sucked in engine stalls nut floats away to get sucked in again later

What is the carby. ?

its a stock carby the only two things i havnt properly checked r the dizzy and fuel pump ,the dizzy does not have points so i dont know how to check lt out , i also havnt checked fuel tank is there an easy way to clean it out is there a drain plug and thank you all for helping me

im thinking about buying steak knifes toyota carby or a webber which is better

i would check everything else before you buy a another carby, make sure that the carby really is the problem.

Sounds to me like its not the carby, you have changed it and no difference.

The fuel filter, change it, when its night, real dark, start her up and look at the motor, see if you can see any sparks. Have a good look at the dizzy cap, close look, check the contacts, and also for a crack, may only be super small, but that is all thats needed.

Get a can of start ya basted, start her up, spray around the carby, close, if there is a minor vacuum leak, it will suck this in and revs will increase, all around.

Not sure if this will help, but I had a similar problem with my SJ50. I changed everything related to the ignition, took the tank out and cleaned it, put on new filters etc. and found out eventually that one of the water hose connections to the carby was corroded and had a slight leak, and when it got up to normal working temp. it would stall and miss! I fixed that and solved the problem .....

dont know much but im guessing new engine mouts and and barina is front wheel drive so i dont know if a sierra box will fit to a barina engine

Barina is G13 but you'll have to swap sump and pickup, engine mounts, manifolds and possibly pulleys if it doesn't come with an alternator.

for my barina swap i had to change the following:
sump and oil pickup
inlet and exhaust manifolds
alternator bracket
alternator pulley (also had to make a spacer for the pulley)
water pump
fuel pump
cam
distributor
engine mounts

Also a rocker but that is because i broke one... The swap wasn't too hard, took a day to get the barina engine out, my engine out, swap the stuff over and get the barina engine in my car. Took another day to get it all going and tuning and stuff though.

to each their own but I paid $160 for a full barina motor that only had 57000k's on the clock and now the wreckers are even cheaper...

Get a mechanic to have a look at it... Doesn't have to be a zook specialist, just any mechanic... Its probably something fairly simple...
