Looking at an exhaust for my asthmatic GV . Now a decent exhaust will give me flow, but also noise, Im over noise, so the question is, will I get increased flow by increasing pipe diameter size ie 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 instead of the Factory 2" and say a stock Falcon or Commo muffler ? I figure that if a larger muffler/system can handle the flow of engines up to twice the size and still keep quiet, it must surely keep on a little V6 quiet but let it breathe. Am I wrong or heading in the right direction ?

High flow 2.25" Cat convertor, 2.25" pipe with a good triple flow muffler should get a bit more up and go without sending you mad from the noise

Talk to the guys at Fatpipes, they gave me a stack of great advice for my GV that was low cost with higher performance and low noise.
It was going to cost approx $300 for a complete
system from the cat back.

No, but they are good also.

They quoted me $750 for a full system including extractors and a new cat.

I just got a 2in Sports System with High Flow Cat on my GV, i got a noisy straight thru muffler for even less restriction, but you can get a sports system with a Quiet muffler, i had one on my 89 Vit, couldnt even hear it... but from my understanding, and i may be wrong, to lower the noise, means baffles or offset flow in the muffler, which generally means more of a restriction, and the exhaust gases stay in the pipe longer... so its a trade off...

My GV breathes alot better now, with a fair bit better power/torque in the higher RPM range, from 3000rpm on, it just winds out now... and you may notice a slight drop in power when at low RPM's, when driving in traffic or around town, but i adjusted my driving to suit, just drop back a gear more often, or hold a lower gear longer, easy...
