just had a look and it says all items pick up from deception bay QLD, that sucks :( . 'Littlejeep' has offered me a trade, a LJ80 box for my maruti box. All we have to work out is postage. Anyone know of a good cheap courier company??

Genius, why didn't I think of that!

BAHAHAHAHAHA........ freight would cost $5.78 hahahahahaha.... thats rough calculations based on my estimates of size and weight of box.

would take 9 to 10 days though.

just checked, door to door would be about 12 bucks, depends on your postcode.

Add insurance for $5.50 ($100 coverage), and thats a good deal

thanks for the offer 'mrw82' but i'm just waiting to get some pictures from Littlejeep of his lj80 box. I would rather have a box that i can just bolt straight in and not worry about changing anything. I'll get back to you if i have no luck though.

Cheers for the courier link Fatzook, that place is a bargain.

just recieved my replacement gearbox yesterday from 'littlejeep' and installed it today. Thanks for the link anyway mate.

In the end i had to shorten the locating dowel 15mm. It all seemed to fit up nicely however I won't know how it goes until all the body work is done on the LJ.

I went through the same thing putting an F10a into mine. The engine was from a type 3. It had a sealed bearing pressed into the flywheel unlike earlier motors with their spigot in the crank.

I've got a spare early input shaft so here's the difference. Sorry for the shitty pics, they're GoPro spec.

Old motor, early style input shaft. The splines are about 2mm in.

Late motor, early input.

This is the gearbox that came with the motor, it's from a type 2 and this is how they cut it down. I didn't get a pic of how I trimmed mine. I cut it about 15mm shorter and ground the ridge down.

Other than that, the late motor is a simple conversion.
