:D am lookingfor an 1.3 intake manifold to use as a pattern to machine my adaptor plate for a weber, therefore it does not need to be in too good a condition as long as the area that the carby fits is in reasonable nick. :)

Apparently the redline adapters are terrible quality and usually create vacuum leaks.

It is a flat piece of alloy with holes drilled in it, any vacuum leaks will be due to being fitted by a gumby.

From what I have read they are not machined flat, I havn't used one myself so I can confirm this. My weber/intake manifold was done by Sarge (the weber god) in the states, from memory he uses the redline adapter, but gets them remachined so they are actually flat.

I don't know where you read that but I think it is rubbish, I have one here, the adapter appears to be cast and has milled faces, it would be harder to make it with an untrue surface than it would be to make it spot on. I would say someone has used a second hand one that is knocked around, has been overtightened and deformed and then bolted an old carbie on it that has similar problems, probably using silastic instead of gaskets. When they had vacuum leaks they jumped on a forum and bagged the product and as happens in cyber land the unfounded bad product rumours started by a gumby just continues to circulate.
