are you English by that i mean did you live in England?
Are you still in england or do you now reside in Australia?
why i ask is because the majority of poms i know come to oz and never wanna go home and that is how a number of my uncles came to be in oz.
the world is a big and wondrous place and iv done a bit of traveling through asia and the middle east and the uk. But ya know what there is not one place i have been that i though id like to live here for the rest of my life. same goes for the majority of my mates that travel. sure ill prolly end up working somewhere overseas again but there is def no place like Australia.
and we dont need to build our own 4wd's the japs do a really good job of that why bother trying to compete.

Heaps of my friends have the travel bug and head overseas just as soon as their wallets are thick enough to give them another hit ... but those same friends haven't travelled north ... haven't seen the top end ... haven't been thru Tassie ... haven't ventured into Australia's great deserts. I'm realistic enough to know that I'm never going to be wealthy enough to travel regularly (and I get homesick if I'm away from my dogs too long ) and would rather see everything that our beautiful land has to offer.
You don't have to lose an arm to appreciate that having both arms is better. Likewise I don't need to go overseas to appreciate that there is more here to explore than I'll ever get to, and a better lifestyle to enjoy than I'll ever deserve. That'll do me

i agree with everything you say, theres definately no place like australia! whats the film "something about wop wop"? where the bloke looks at the yank, gestures at the big featurless expanse of sand and says "why would you whant to go home when youve got all this"
the colonys are ok for a visit but theres no place like the motherland.
and with regards to "knowing a bit about 4x4" theve been building 4x4 is solihul since 1948, even if australia saved up enouph to start production today they would have a bit of catching up to do. why bother building your own? well if you can afford to build them its a very proffitable venture, they dont even have to be any good people will buy them just because it says land rover on it! something like 70% are export, so it brings lots of money into the uk. hence they can afford to do things like offer free medical treatment to everyone, build a decentish education system, build a decent transport system without having a toll at the start of every decent bit of road, drop bombs on iraq so you can still buy petrol, thats why building stuff and selling it to people makes sense, even taiwan does it!

why would Australia want to build any thing or for that matter work too hard, when we have the best looking women in the world, the best beaches, the best weather, and the best pretty much every thing.

america may not but if we continue to have the same vested interests then we are pretty safe thats the way i see it anyway.
you forget that our nation as one being populated by people of english decent has only existed a smidge over 200 years. Have a look at your history books i think you will find a few horrific incidents in the history of Britannia.
sure what white man did to the aborigines was/is messed up and sure it was only a few years ago the only reason you bring it up is because no one would remember who killed who in Britain so that the current occupiers came to be in control. PS it was not i that claimed that Australia was Terra nullius it was our good friend james cook im pretty sure he was english was he not.
and if your getting at border protection dont even bother go look in your own back yard or in Americas or any other country in the world. the only reason you see it here is the massive wet thing that they have to cross to get to our doorstep.
as far as economy we just dig it up as we need it and when the world comes to an end at least there will only be 4 people and a dog in oz to try and keep alive.

love the constant banging on about everything bad in australia being captain cooks fault and yes england was always ruled by blood thirsty tyrants but its moved on a bit, oz has had two hundred years to sort its politics out and failed dismaly. bit like iraq (were still fucking that ) we caused that, india that was us, africa yup, america us, just about the entire civilised world was mucked up by the english, thing is its only the aussies who still blame it on the last boss, take responsibilty for your goverments recent unfairness, poor indigeonous housing and life expecancy and as for sending refugees to camps in timore, thats just wrong?

and how can you blame poor indigenous housing on the Australian gov't back when your guys ruled you shot the poor buggers and rounded them up and drove them off cliffs! sending 'refugee's to timor' how many refugee's do the English people love and accept?? last time i heard you guys have had a few race riots in your little island, you even reject your own kind the Irish last time i checked you all sound the same and have the same blood?? i say we get back to the main topic of how Suzuki (a Japanese brand not Aussie and not pom) made a really awesome car that out drives Toyota (another jap brand) and Nissan (jap aswell) and Mitsubishi (also jap) to become the tiniest little truck beater in town??
or was everyone happy bagging out the illiterate pommy!!
