I all,

Just enquiring as to what I could expect if I fitted Extractors + new exhaust system to my '93 Vit? I looking to try and improve the bottom end a bit (ie take off, etc).
I've only got 215 size tyres fitted but find taking off on inclines with the old Vitara a bit of a slipping the clutch affair to take off.
Would like to improve the take off ability a little bit but did not want to go down any real expensive path.....

Could I expect an improvement by fitting extractors & a Free Flowing Exhaust system?
Any ideas/suggestions would be helpful.....

More noise...

Extractors tend to improve the top end by pulling The exhaust gases out of the combustion chamber. I am not sure if they will improve Torque??

I mean on my last car I lost a little on the Bottom end but gained a fair bit on the mid rev range..

I have just fitted extractors and new exhaust and it gave me a 10 - 15 % power torgue increase. MATE YA CARNT GO WRONG DO IT BEST THINK I EVER DID

Well, I finally have gotten around to fit a set of Extractors + full exhaust sports system along with a new Cat convertor on my Vitara as I found a crack in the exhaust manifold. Had them for about a week so far so and have only run a tank full of fuel through it to date.

Have I noticed a difference??? well a little...... it's early days yet but I have noticed a bit better thottle response & a little more low down response. Economy.... well no improvements there to date but I will see after I run a few tank fulls through the car.

I've heard from a lot of people that it should make a fair bit of difference, but I'm not sure how they can verify that w/o dyno figures, etc. The reason I ended up fitting extractors & a system was that the original manifold was cracked & thought this would be a more benefical way to go.

Value for money.... not sure yet...... Certainly sounds better though!!
One thing I know is that from my normal daily driving to and from work (semi city drivng), I have found no difference in economy in running PULP vs ULP. That's even with using a injector cleaner in every tank full that I used PULP. No improvements to date in economy with fitting extractors either.

Hopefully with a bit more driving and a few more tank fulls, things may improve more..... here's hoping..

personally i don't believe they actually do much at all except change the sound.

not going to type out that post again but they can make a massive difference if the original design isnt right, most times with more modern cars the factory design is not too far off spot on from a performance point of view so there are little gains when trading off noise and so on.

I wonder how many people notice a big difference cause their cat or muffler were blocked?

economy gains are iffy, for the most part an efi car can only trim fuel at idle and cruise, so if you do a lot of steady highway work it may relise things are cruising a bit easier than before and knock a few % out but not likely, you could get it all retuned but for the $2 a week youd save in fuel its probably not worth it

Funny you say that. The fellas that replaced my system said that there was nothing in my Cat Convertor. So I suppose all the internals of the Cat "may" have been clogging up the muffler.... anyhow I've got a whole new system now so I'll see how things go. The only thing I may do is fit a resonator to try a quieting the noise down a bit if I can't get use to it.
