hey dudes my horn is playing up. some times it doesnt work, and then some day it does.

i checked the horn itself and that was ok. and ive since installed air horns since. i also checked the horn button and the connections on the steering wheel and the are ok too.

i think the problem lies on the wire from the steering to the horn.

anyone know what it might be?

Rag joint, at the steering box.

just cut the wires at the horn, solder new wires on very well, then pull it through at the dash, voila! new wiring is routed and ready to connect =)

rag joint has a metalic bit, to earth the column, they often crack.
I made one for my sierra from a coke can.
But rag joint could also be stuffed, hopefuly not

i got a new one of those waiting for when i put another steering box in, i'll wait till then to see if that fixes it

Just check if the steering column is earthed, if not put a jumper cable on it to test the theory.
you did relay the air horn's, yes??

I just didn't see any cable ties, so I thought maybe someone else had one on Elcho...

cable ties aren't strong enough. hose clamps is where it is at.

I found that the Loom Cable Connector hidden up under the glove box was full of crap. Pulled the connector apart, cleaned out the corrosion and crap and my horn now works perfectly.

The main wiring loom runs from the left hand side of the engine bay through the the firewall and into the cabin. Looking up behind the glove box, from the passenger's footwell, you should see the loom with two multi wire block connectors. They should be near the firewall grommet. I think the smaller of the two block connectors has the horn wires running through it.

nah it's cool that's enough info for me to find it, clean the loom plugs with contact cleaner or something and may fix some issues
