Hay guys u may remember me making a post the other day about my dual battery system, well my second deep cycle battery is buggerd, not holding charge any more, so i need a new battery.
can anyone reccommend me a place on the northside of brissy to get one at a good price, or can anyone recommend a type of battery that is good, mainly for runing fridges.

I grabbed a couple of 100AH batteries from a bunch that we decomissioned from our UPS battery bank at work. Something like that would be spot on if you can get them.

Can't help you out with a supplier on the Nth side though, sorry mate.

run back through the for sale ads to where DJ was selling some alarm backup batteries, same thing Damo is talking about and perfect fit for most trays and CHEAP!!!!!

is your dual battery on the passenger side or drivers? you can fit some pretty big batteries on the passenger side

then there is the age old question of how much capacity, but in a zook just fit the biggest you can squeeze in / afford and work round it :(

if you want to go new www.springers.com.au , very helpful people and based in Lawnton

just been down to springers and ordered a battery to suit, cost $140. my main battery is on passenger side and secondary is on drivers side. and my solenoid is on drivers side, is there an easy way of swopping batterys side to side so that i can fit a bigger battery on passenger side for the secondary battery, i know its hard to tell without out seeing, but could i swap the cables on the solenoid over? sorry for such a crap description

OK I cant think of a non confusing way to describe this cause in my head it was so easy and straight forward but nobody else has ever understood it

ok if you look at the stock pic, thats how late vits are setup from standard, from the positive battery terminal there is a fat cable and a skinny one, the fat one travels along the firewall and down to the starter, it supplies the high current needed to work the starter when cranking, the alternator is also connected to this cable to facilitate charging the battery

the skinny cable goes to the fuse box to supply the ignition switch, lights, other fuse box and so on, so the rest of the car

so step one is to remove the battery from that side and mount it on the drivers side, I wont go into mounting options cause you have that covered

so now we need to wire the battery in so it supplies the starter and car, to do that we run a fat red cable from the pos terminal down to where our factory cable connects to the starter and a fat black cable to the block to earth it, at teh same time we just want to tape up the old positive battery terminal on the pass side cause it will be live now

so what we have now is a vitara that the power runs from the battery on the drivers side down to the starter terminal for the starter to operate, the power then runs on from the starter terminal along the factory fat starter wire on the firewall to the factory battery terminal (taped up) to the fusebox and onto the car.

If we had left a battery hooked up in the stock spot we would have two batteries supplying the whole car but both would flatten together so we need to isolate the auxillary

remember how I said the solenoid works? you run a fat cable between the 2 batteries with the solenoid in between and when the ignition is on they join to charge and when the ignition is off they seperate so they dont run down together

so we put our aux battery in the passenger side and we need to charge it via the isolator, turns out we have a nice fat wire from the main battery already there in the form of the stock cable so we can with a bit of tin snip work cut the old battery terminal down to a lug so it attaches to one side of the solenoid, then we just run another fat cable from the other solenoid terminal to the auxillary battery positive and the ignition wire to the little terminal and its all done and will look a bit like the modified pic

then its just a matter of moving the auxillary power wires over and so on
this will let you use a massive aux battery, I have a HGL120A fullriver battery which rubs on the inner guard, the air intake and bonnet so is a bit too big but you will get a 90 amp fullriver in easy, much better than some little thing on the other side that will go flat overnight running a fridge

if that doesnt make sense post up where you get stuck and I will try to explain
