Hi guys. I have a '95 SV620. After wrecking my front diff I decided to replace with 5.12s. Took a punt on an earlier diff and housing off the internet and while the diff itself seems ok, it's a 22 spline, my axles are 26. Can an earlier axle(22) cup be fitted to the balls and shaft of my existing CV? My original part is green. Passenger side is ok. As a more difficult alternative, can I fit my old 26 spline side gears into the new diff? I have no diff assembly experience but could get help if needed.

It can be done with a hybrid 22/26 spline CV, what you will need is the inner cup & spline from the 22 spline CV & the inner CV balls/spider/cage from the 26 spline CV.

I think I have the 22 spline cup floating around the garage, if I can find it & if you want I can box it up & post it for a small fee.

The other option is to get the side gears swapped over but I'm not 100% sure if they are able to be mixed & matched.

Thanks Atari. The hybrid sounds ideal. If you can find one we can organize a deal. If not, do you know the models they are from so I can be specific with a wrecker.

if you cant find yours atari i should also have one floating around also

its a messy job to change the cup but is very easy to do

Yeah messy but more doable for me than the alternatives. Is it important to use Molybdenum grease

Yeah molly grease is the one you want to use.

I've located the 22 spline stub axle, not sure what sort of price to put on it.... does $20 posted sound alright???

This is the one I used for a few months before I had the locker & steel diff fittted, the only thing is I can't remember if I used the spider/ball/cage from the 22 or 26 spliner... I think from memory I used the outer cage & balls from the 22 & the spider looking star thing from the 26, I'm sure I've got the 22 spline cage n balls kicking around in the garage somewhere.

Hey Tombutt, can you remember what combo of internals you used?

I think I used the cage & balls from the 22 spliner, but I think I've binned in my crazy CV front diff clean up?
