I've been looking at these tyres the last week. I've been planning on getting some 33s for the zuke, but after talking to a few people, apparently these Extremes which are marked as 33s , are actually 31.5, bizzare. I got a price from Beaurepairs at Hemmant, $330 each.

They also have a 35 / 11.5 . Does anyone know what these measure?

and any suggestions as to where i could get a good price for them?

simex ETs are supposed to be shit on rocks too, but seemed to go ok

so what's ya recommendation ?

when you compare to the tires the gurus are running its pretty cheap
if you want new, MTR's would have to be the best in your budget, otherwise second hand radial claws, those trepador things they go on about, anything Greg has lying around

i'm looking for a pretty narrow tyre, 10.5 or close. Most i've seen are 12.5 which i think is too wide. I wanted to avoid the whole bouncy balloon beach tyre thing.

how about a 235/85 R16? thats about 32.5 x 8 and a bit, metric version of a standard split rim tire

Mine are excellent on rocks and un-stoppable in mud.. I'll ask my contact down here Steve at what price he can do.. My 31x10.5x15 were only $249ea

A guy on outers has these tyres in 33" and they are only 31.5 in the real world. They would be better on rock than the simex et's as they are a much softer compound. Some say they are alot better tyre for the zooks as they are softer all round and bag easier. Personally I am going to go for the pedes cause I plan to do a bit of on road driving and the harder compound will last longer.

My mate has a set of 35" on his GQ comp truck and they get cut up pretty easily and damaged when we go wheeling, easier than my buckshot mudder radial and they only measure about 34". I'd imagine they'd fair better on a much lighter rig though, my mate is going for 36" pedes next.

Hey guys Ill put in a bit of research I posted on another thread but I was looking at a few other tires and found this have a read....

I was looking around at some tires not all but wanted to know which ones were actual 31" tires and I came down to the ones I would be interested in buying next. I wanted to know what was slightly bigger and which one could be classified as better and what not so here goes..


Mickey Thompson MTZ 31/10.50R15LT is 30.7 --- 109Q 782mm

M8060 Trepador 31/10.50R15 LT is 30.6" 109Q 777mm

Goodyear MTR 31X10.50R15 is 30.8" -- 109N 782 mm

Goodyear MTR 32X11.50R15 113Q 800mm
I put the 32" as it has a Q rating

Simex Centipede 31X10.50R15 is 32.2 110N 818mm

BFG Mudder 31x10.50R15 is 30.8 109Q 782mm

As you can see some tires are actually bigger than others, the Simex 31" is actually more of a true 31" tire well as in it starts of as 32.2" tire and probably dies as a 31"....?

So on your tire the 109 is the load rating so 109 can take 1030Kg's. The Q is your speed rating, now just to clarify in Australia it is legal for any 4Wdrive to be fitted with a N rated tyre which is 140kmph. The Q is 160km/h. Now from searching it is said that speed rating are done under extreme conditions such as overloading and excessive speeds. Now I would assume that either as the lowest legal requirement for tires in Australia is 'N' that some tire manufacturers will only reach this requirement and be happy with that. Where as Im finding other Mud tires are exceeding this rating such as the 'Q' spec tires, which would be rated to speeds at 160km. Now Im thinking this could suggest the tires construction in sidewall and tread would be alot more puncture resistant if not more reliable on the trails....?

As for the Silversatone's Ive' read mostly that for their price they are a good mud tire, as in they should come out cheaper than most other mud tires...? And that being said seem to notice Zook drivers like them but people with the bigge vehicles seem to were them out pretty quickly.

Also I just remembered apparently the voids are bigger/wider in the silverstones compared to the simex's (that is the gap between the lugs is larger). This I would imagine would adversely affect onroad manners but probably benifit offroad.

Anyone up here in Brissy seen pricing like that. If so the 31's would be perfect for my budget. Problem is the 31s only measure 30.3 or something. I'm running bfg 30 x 9.5s now so it wouldn't be much of a size upgrade unfortunately. I think the 33s would be too big measuring 32.75 though.

If you can fit the 32s in your guards i'd get those. That would be what my old ETs measured and you saw what my CVs and axles copped, never ever twisted a rear axle, ... broke a CV every now and then but they copped a flogging. If you take it easy and drive smoothly they last ok. I think you have to weigh it up too, replacing a $50 CV every now and then isn't too expensive.

More worried about fitting them than their height . I wanted to pull my BL out which would mean a fair bit of work on a virtual lift for the 32.7's. Then of course theres the wide track spring spacing for the new rubber to chew which calls for NT spacing....and the list goes on.

The virtual lift is no biggie, but the rubbing on springs does worry me.

Their Malaysian site lists a 33x9.5-15LT. Anyone know if these are available in Australia?

But it's off the road, doesnt matter if its not driveable for a few weeks. I think the front is more important than the back, do that first.

You might be suprised what you can fit on with some offset rims. Try 15x7s in 0 offset, of -15mm offset if that doesnt work. With my 15x8 -25mm offset I reckon I could fit 33x12.5s!

ok....i've resisted...but heare goes. our group has been running silverstones ever since they came out, i do believe i was handed the first set of 33's to try out. then slowly, our whole group switched over to them. we had all tried swampers, simex's etc etc, and found the silverstone to do all we want in a nice manner. off road they are ace, you can let em down and get some nice flex happening. on road they are freakin BRILLIANT! handling with simex's and swampers is is scary enough on the road, and i'm not even going into detail about thier braking performance......there is none. and as far as tyre wear is concerned, i've noted that they all wear simmilar to each other. on last years tassie trip we were given our first set of extremes to try out, they permormed well but they are very harsh on cv's. but still, they have alot better road caractaristics than simex or swamper, and for the price you can't go wrong. all the vehicles we have them on ALL have airlockers, so our tests were done with that in mind. but unless you have a locking diff of some kind these wonderfull tyres won't show thier true skills. and as for my opinion i much prefer the normal 117 over the extreme as an all rounder. the extremes love digging holes in sand etc and with lockers they were on an even par offroad, BUT the normal 117 is a far better tyre on road.

What pressure do you run yours down to Joe? I've got the MT-117 Sports as well and i think they're brilliant. Never had a problem on rocks or mud and they're quiet on the road.

most of the guys run between 8-10 psi. i usually go between 12-14psi due to my vehicle being heavier-1500kg's. and we all run tubes.

Ok I called Neta tyres who have been recommended as the QLD distributer and after getting my hopes up I think these tyres are off the list. Firstly they told me they don't get in the 31's only the 33s which he'd do for $280 a corner. So I asked about the less aggressive MT117 sport in 31 and he said he'd do them for lik $230-$240 a corner. I think this is pretty damn expensive when the guys down south are getting the extreme in 31 under $200. What is a pede in 31 worth?

get them off the guy on ebay, i got the 31's mt117 sport to my door for about $160 a wheel if i remember right, postage was the same for 2 and 4 wheels.

they should clear on that offset, but they'd be pretty damn close...
As for the 15x7's...
I'd be going the biggest 'off the shelf' offset you can (without going custom/flipped) to be on the safe side...
