Getting some 40mm lift springs from Dobinsons when my tax cheque turns up and would like to put on some tyres as well. Just wondering what is the best size for my Jimny. Everyone seems to run 215/75/r15 tyres but I was wondering if I was to go to a 235/75/r15 would I have major scrubbing issues and power loss? I want my vehicle to look good as well as drive good so just thinking the 215's would be a tad small.

Also with the scrubbing problems how hard are they to fix. Also has anyone tried the ebay shocks for $240 Delivered. Would i be wasting my money. Dobinsons wanted $520 for front/ rear shocks and $388 for 40mm springs. I figure springs are a good price but shocks are a little expensive.

Visual difference between a 215 and a 235 is very minimal. Most people wouldn't pick it. 215's don't scrub on a sierra with no lift but 235's do. I'd guess the Jimny would be much the same.

Nope they're not the same as a sierra - the clearances are much tighter. from memory 235's do scrub a bit on a Jimny.

A 40mm lift does not permit the installation of taller tyres. It only lifts the "static" height of the car, so when it flexes off road, the tyres will still touch just as badly as if there was no lift in the car.

Scrubbing isn't hard to fix with a grinder, a hammer, some time, and/or bumpstop spacing.

As for power loss, your revs will drop about 10% for the same road speed, so your car will feel about 10% less powerful. It should be bearable.

you will lose a fair bit of power, going to 215's dropped my revs by about 500 rpm. 215's look fuckin ace, especially if they are a muddy,

you could go to 235s but you will need to cut guards, when flexing it will scrub, mine scrub on 215s and vermins also scrubbed but only after he took his swaybar off to get heaps more flex. its just cause i got a shit suspension setup, bloody OME

resurrect a old thread .i am shopping around now for new rubber and are thinking of maxxis treps 235/75 r15..I think there about 29inch,was hoping they would go under my w/t seirra. all I have at the moment is a 50mm susp lift .sounds like a body lift might be needed as well.didnt really want to go for that.but thats the way it is I suppose..any chance that they will fit stock rims or need to jump up a bit there as well..thanks

235/75 fit the wt with the only mod required is to trim down the 'outriggers' that hold the front bumper on. Not sure about the stock rims, ive only ever run that size on 15x7 rims with -13 offset.

i have 215's on my jimny, and they dont come close to scrubbing... having said that i do have an 80mm suspention lift. so that probly helps.... as soon as these wear out im looking at getting 235/75/r15...

spot on with your info mate fitted the new wheels and tires yesterday..235/75 on 7 inch speedies ..didnt want to body lift,.. just 50mm suspension lift only which I know has no real bearing on the size of the wheel and tire..trimmed down the outriggers and cut the bottom corners of the bumpers down plus flatened all the seams under the guard..took her for a spin over some big bumps didnt even look like scrubbing on the guards..just touches the leaf springs when on very hard full lock..I can live with that..
