Pieman river ay
I gotta ask, have any of you guys seen that movie "dying breed"
Where that group of mates travel through Tassie and they cross the Pieman river trying to prove the Tassie tigers are still gettin around, and they all get butchered by the pieman's inbred irish family.
Is any of it remotely true? The legend of the Pieman I mean, or is it more hollywood fairytales
Yeah mate seen the movie, pretty crappy really.
At the start, they fly into "hobart tasmania" and in the background is a car with melbourne plates and a tram going past, we dont even have trams here!
There was a fella who was jailed and sent to jane island, which used to be where they would send convicts, and a bloke there was a pie maker, and another fella escaped, one was caught at the pieman river, hence the name, and the other fella almost made it to hobart, and he killed and skun one of the fellow inmates to survive, but mostly kangaroos. So it's sort of true, but they use two people's identity's to make the one bloke for the film.
However, I have rode the barge at corinna across the pieman river a few times in my life, like they do in the movie, and thats bullshit, It's expensive but there isn't anything queer about it or the driver!
Guess it's a bit like wolfe creek with John Jarrett. I've been there too, walked to the centre of the crater, nothing crazy there either!
P.S those photo's of the LJ's are cool, but I just thought i'd share some pics of a random one I found!
