1600 oil pickup

Went to put my sump on tonight and am a bit lost with my oil pickup.

There is about 2mm between the block and the pickup tube. When I pulled it apart this gap was filled with silicon :roll:

but i'm guessing it should be an o-ring. Is this what it's supposed to look like? I'm hoping an off the shelf o-ring will work.

I'm just guesing here but looks to me like a 2mm o-ring will sit down nice and neat in that recess. There is even a chamfer to help it in.

I'll see if I can get one tomorrow. Err, make that today.

I'm still a bit amazed about the silicon job that someone did on it. And if you saw how much they used to seal the sump... faaaark!
