After my car blowing alot of smoke and running like a bucket of shit. I got the chance to take the head off. Theres alot of black shit or carbon over the pistons and the spark plugs and valves are covered in it. It was blowing alot of blue smoke, so thats some thing to do with oil. How do i no if my oil rings are stuffed or not. I pressure tested the compression and i got 150 on all four(4) pistons, so the compression rings are good i think. What is coursing my car to blow alot off smoke.
How much play should the pistons have in the bore coz they do move around abit in ther. Btw smoke is only coming from piston three(3) at this stage
If i replace the rings and get new valves an reseat them would that fix the smoke or should i just clean the piston nd valves nd get them reseated. Im thinking itll be better if i just replace every thing while i have the head off.

I would also check and if needed replace the valve stem seals. I have checked a couple of "knackered" engines showing good numbers on compression but with leaking valve stem seals. Replace and life is good. May not be in your case but worth a look.
Even if you have well seated rings but the oil ring has failed you will get smoke.
Before we go too far into it, how do you know is no. 3 is smoking? Plug fouled?

All the spark plugs are black. But three is worse. Took the exhaust manifold off and started car up. Only smoke coming from cylinder three and abit of oil coming out. So im guessing some thing in cylinder three has gone

How many k's on the engine? Being only one cylinder playing up I would say stem seals.
With the head off how did no. 3 look on the cylinder wall?

Bore's are shiny, could do with a hone, but you have it apart so rebuild
Pull one of the no3 valve's out & see if the oil's running down that..or just roll the cam enough to open em & take a pic..

Is that coolant I see inside the cylinder head there on number 1? Hasn't done a head gasket or something has it? The smoke could actually be steam...
Also, it looks like a longer plug on number 3 than the others?

The car only blows smoke under acceleration or load. Not sure if thats any help

Well whiles is apart get it honed and go oversize slugs and rings. Strip the head down and also check for excessive play in the valve guides. If so get new ones pressed in also.
