hey guys, im just wondering what you seal your airbox up with i have a 1.3 NT and the air box dont seal too well where it clamps down. the rubber is all dry and dead.

do u just pull all the rubber out and put in new gear if so what u use and where u get it??

also dont wanna silicon it up need access to the filter still lol.

silicon is the go just put a new filter in before u do

Just pull the rubber seal out, silicone up with a generous bead where the seal used to be let it dry for a day, clamp the lid down and ur good to go , new seal and the filter is accessable without a stanely knife

Suely there'd be something suitable at Clark rubber you can glue in there.

I'm going to suggest quitting while you are ahead and ditching the sierra airbox for something that works better. I'm sure the seals can be improved/renewed and all but the sierra box is never really going to seal very well because it's not adequately clamped.

It's one of the areas where suzuki looked and the intended life and use of the car and saved some money- that airbox was never intended to seal if it was under water.

I've seen masses of mud and dust inside the "clean" side of lots of sierra airboxes, enough for me to decide that they aren't designed for the use we put them to.

I'd upgrade to a 1980's Toyota hiace airbox. They are a pretty close copy of a Donaldson Cyclopac and fit in a sierra engine bay quite well, more so if the battery is relocated to the passenger side. They seal impeccably (they live behind the front wheel of a Hiace about 300mm from the road, so toyota made them to seal well), and have about 40% more filter area than a sierra filter. They also have a steel housing so they are very easy to modify.
