I'v got a Drover that has a 1600 EFI Vitara eng fitted. The dash in it is the one that dosen't have a factory tacho & mate has given me an after market tacho to mount on top of the dash. The trouble is I don't know wich wire to tap into. There is a plug in the side of the distributor that has 7 wires coming out of it, can anyone tell me wich is the one I need for the tacho?

Cheers.

Just had a look under the bonet, I can't see anything that looks like a coil. On my last suzi the coil was mounted on the fire wall, but that was a 1300 carby eng this is a 1600 EFI. What should the coil on an EFI look like & where is it on the motor or the body?. Sorry if this question sounds stupid but I have never had a EFI eng before.

The brown wire coming off the noise filter should be tacho, it is on all the other vit eng's.
The noise filter is a lil black thing in the harness that look's like it does nothing, should be near the dizzy plug..

Should be!!!

Thanks Steak_knife,
Is this it? I know it's not black but it's the only thing I could find with brown wires coming out of it.

That is a noise suppressor, but not the one needed, you need the one that's in the eng loom, that one there in in the original loom.

Iv'e had a real good look around the loom but stuffed if I can see it. I might just have to run it down to the local auto elec & get them to hook it up, I was hoping to do it my self. You get a certian sadifaction having a go at somthing you dont normaly do.
Thanks for the help Steak_knife.

For anyone who may need this info in the future, its the brown & white wire.
It is the second wire from the left on the plug to the distributor .

Cheers, thanks to 89 tintop for all his help.
